This year, Egypt, with its capital Cairo, is hosting an unusual parade. It is the “Golden Parade of the Pharaohs”,during which 22 mummies, 18 pharaohs and 4 queens will be transferred from the old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the new museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC).
NMEC will be the first museum dedicated to the entire Egyptian civilization. The museum is divided into six thematic galleries showing the first civilizations, the Nile, writing, the state and society, material culture, beliefs and reflections, and a gallery of royal mummies.
Upon arrival at NMEC, the mummies will be under restoration in the lab for at least 15 days, after which they will be ready for display in their new showcases at the Royal Pharaohs Hall. The idea is to place them in the hall in the same places as their tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
There will be Pharaoh Ramses II, Ramses III, Rameses IV, Ramses IX, Ramses VI, Ramses V, Seti I, Seti II, Siptah, Amenhotep I, Amenhotep II, Seqenenre, Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Thutmose III, Thutmose IV , Merneptah, and Queen Hatshepsut, Meritamen, Ahmose Nefertari, and Queen Tii.
The parade, which will last more than an hour, will be decorated with performances by famous Egyptian artists, starting with Mona Zaki, accompanied by Hussein Fahmi, Sawsan Badr, Hand Sabri, Asser Jassin, Yousra and many others. Passing through the streets of Cairo, the procession will be accompanied by music and armed bravery worthy of royal families.
This important event will take place on April 3, 2021, and 22 mummies, members of the 17th, 18th, 19th. and the 20th dynasty of pharaohs, will travel in order, from the oldest to the youngest, each in his own boat, specially decorated in the Egyptian style.
According to the head of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the museum will open its doors to the public on April 4, 2021.
