Cleopatra – Possible soon meeting with the last pharaoh of Egypt

2000 years after her death, the tomb of Queen Cleopatra may be at the hands of an Egyptologist archaeologist.

The excavation is carried out at the site of Taposiris Magna, 60 miles from Cairo, in the hope that the secret of the last pharaoh of Egypt will finally be revealed. Their research will be presented on the Science Channel on June 21, under the title “Cleopatra, Sex, Lies and Secrets”. A new theory set by archaeologist Dr. Kathleen Martinez suggests that Cleopatra’s tomb could be found at this location.

Archaeologists have always believed that it is near Alexandria, which is why Taposiris Magna was declared as a possible last resting place of Cleopatra. By the way, during Cleopatra’s life, the temple of the same name was part of the port city.
Cleopatra VII was born in 70 or 69 BC and ruled Egypt for almost 30 years. After her death, Egypt came into the hands of Roman rulers, which ended the ancient Egyptian empire. It is known that the pharaohs built huge tombs in which they would be buried, but given Cleopatra’s status as a prisoner of Rome at the time of her death, she probably received a modest burial in a secret tomb.
Cleopatra, in fact, was not Egyptian. She was born in Egypt, but she comes from Macedonian Greece and Ptolemy I Soter, General Alexander the Great. Ptolemy took power over Egypt after the death of Alexander the Great, in 323 BC. And he started a dynasty of rulers that lasted for almost 3 centuries. The last ruler, ie the ruler of that dynasty is Cleopatra. Although she is not of Egyptian origin, Cleopatra accepted many Egyptian customs and spoke their language.
Members of the Ptolemaic dynasty often married within the family in order to preserve the purity of their lineage. A large number of Cleopatra’s ancestors were also married to their siblings.
Unlike the presentation of her appearance in the media, on photographs and papyri, live, Cleopatra was a woman of average beauty. What was her greatest asset was her exceptional intelligence? Educated in mathematics, philosophy, astronomy and with knowledge of several languages, she was a ruler who “raised the ranks of scientists and enjoyed their company.” Regardless of the existence of evidence of her inconspicuous beauty, the ancient writer Plutarch claimed that her beauty was incomparable and that her charm made her irresistible.
In the Ptolemaic dynasty, murder among family members was as common as marriage. And Cleopatra, in a great desire for the throne, committed the murder of both brothers and sisters. Her first husband, Ptolemy XIII, fled the country after she tried to take the throne, and the couple later faced a civil war. Cleopatra regained the advantage by teaming up with Caesar, and Ptolemy drowned in the Nile, after being defeated in battle. She also killed her second brother in 41 BC, and then her sister Arsinoe, whom she considered a rival for the throne.

Cleopatra considered herself a living goddess and often resorted to staging appearances in order to draw the attention of potential allies and strengthen her divine status. She had such a dramatic entry at her first meeting with Julius Caesar. Knowing that her brother’s forces would prevent her meeting with the Roman chief, who came to Egypt at that time, Cleopatra wrapped herself in a carpet and was smuggled into his chambers. Also, the meeting with Mark Antony was described as a special scene. She came in a golden boat with purple sails and silver oars and immediately enchanted Antonia.
As Caesar’s mistress, Cleopatra lived in Rome for a time. Her exotic hairstyle and pearl jewelry became a fashion trend of Rome that was adopted by a large number of women. She established a connection with Caesar that brought her to power and kept her there until his murder. Out of their love, Cleopatra’s heir was born. The ancient Egyptians believed that Cleopatra was the incarnation of the goddess Isis, who was very important in their religion. That is why Cleopatra shaped herself according to her appearance and always behaved divinely.
The cause of Cleopatra’s death is still a mystery. Many believe that she committed suicide using an Egyptian cobra, but the writer Plutarch admitted that “what really happened is not known to anyone.” If her body is reached through this excavation, the real cause of her death may be revealed.
